Jaco Island is a deserted small island, part of the Protected Nino Konis Santana National Park situated in the tip of the eastern Municipality of Lospalos, home to the Fataluku people blessed with amazingly white sand beaches, pristine azure waters and low vegetation.
Also an area of ancient heritage and great anthropological value with recently archaeological findings of the world’s oldest fishing hooks in Tutuala, records an ancient presence of nomadic tribes here dating as far back as approximately 42,000 years.

Day by Day in Detail

Dili Tour – Highlights & Landmarks & History: Resistance Museum, Santa Cruz Cemetery, Local Markets, Tacitolu and the Statue of Cristo Rei for the sunset;
Overnight at Hotel Timor.
08:30 :Transfer to Tutuala along the coast, through various types of terrain past Manatuto and Baucau and Lautem Municipalities. Enjoy magnificient views of the Wetar Straight including mangroves, white sand beaches, marble rock beaches, passing through various seaside fishing villlages and rice fields. Lunch in a local restaurant in Baucau before continuing the drive east along the coast, passing through fishing villages and communities such as Laivai and Lautem. Lautem has some of the most beautiful beaches on the island with soft white sand and crystalline water. Its charm is partly due to its unspoiled wilderness as the craggy mountains reach the Caribbean-like coastline. This area is known for its caves whose walls are engraved with cave drawings. Then we’ll continue through the towns of Lautem climbing north up to Rasa, plains of Mehara (Iralalaro Lake) into Tutuala as we head towards the coast. We’ll arrive at Pousada Tutuala in time to relax and explore this Town before dinner.

08:30 – On the way to Valu Beach we will hike to the Rockwall at Ilikerekere to see some ancient paintings on its walls. After the hike we will continue to Valu Beach to take the trip to the beautiful and pristine of Timor-Leste’s must-visit spots, the idyllic Jaco Island on a local boat. Spend time there swimming, snorkelling, exploring the island. We’ll head back to Valu Beach for late lunch with views of the Pacific Ocean and Jaco Island. After lunch we will drive to Com through Traditional Tombs in Assalaino, Pitileti Rocky Village into Com for the overnight.

Lautem the most eastern Municipality of Timor-Leste includes the sprawling main center of Lospalos and has a wealth of natural and cultural locations of interest to travelers. Lautem has beautiful sand beaches and a wild, mountainous, and raw rugged unspoilt landscape. Many of the endemic birds of Timor Leste live here. Near the city of Lautem there are cave drawings. Numerous stone sarcophagi and animistic shrines are found throughout the Municipality.
08:00 – Transfer to Dili after visiting the Umunira fossilized lagoon after continuing to Dili the same road through Baucau for lunch and continue through to Manatuto into Dili. Should time and conditions allow we will have a brief stop at Dollar Beach.
